never complain to me about marvel netflix again

 I just finished the first season of Titans, and it such an extremely unbalanced season?  

Like in terms of character development it’s almost entirely Dick and Rachel (with two eps devoted to side characters??), with some for Kory and a teeeeeny amount for Gar.  (And when you cast a black woman for Kory and an Asian guy for Gar, it feels.  Pretty unfortunate.  Also both actors are really charismatic and deserve more.)

(Also like.  I wasn’t particularly into Dick’s issues??  And I enjoy broody guys!!  My favourite tv superhero is Matt Murdock!!  I roll around in his angst and bad decisions while other fans get frustrated!!  And I felt… bored?  With Dick’s?  I don’t know if it’s the actor or the writing, because on paper it should be my jam.)  

Plus the pacing was just… bizarre?  The finale was not a bad episode, but it was  a very weird point to cut off at.  There were two episodes that felt like back door pilots.  The Doom Patrol one (which is getting a spinoff) I forgive because it also provides backstory for Gar.  The Hank and Dawn one was oddly emotionally effective but like??  None of the main cast appeared in it aside from Rachel in reflections??????  I would be okay with this normally but when the series cuts off at weird point it makes me wonder why you are wasting episodes by devoting them entirely to side characters????

The pacing issue is especially irritating to me because of how every single Marvel Netflix season has been criticized for its pacing.  (And I was feeling like maybe I wasn’t picky enough b/c I enjoyed all the seasons I’ve seen.  Which is all of them aside from the Punisher series.)

Also because s2 is clearly going to continue to focus on Rachel and Dick’s parental issues, given where s1 left off.
