I found the first episode significantly more engaging than the comic issue it is based on, which is generally agreed to be a weak start to an excellent series.

I’m surprised that they kept Dream's initial imprisonment date as during WWI, given that they are having the aftermath take place present day-ish. Given that the comic came out over 30 years ago, I assumed they'd move it to WW2. It's not a huge thing, but him being missing for over a century rather than 70ish years makes a difference in terms of like. People's lifespans. (Eg: Unity Kinkaid being a certain someone's grandmother. Maybe she's a great grandma now? John Dee's age I can handwave more because there's weird magic involved. I mean there is with Unity too but just in terms of fertility age... I mean guess I can handwave there too but.)

It was a good adaptation choice to introduce the Corinthian in episode one, and having had him escape the Dreaming before Morpheus was captured. Him giving Burgess tips on how to keep Morpheus locked up was an interesting twist. The Corinthian is definitely not the major antagonist of the series, but he is a significant villain in volume 2 so it makes sense to build him when you're making a season of television. (This season apparently covers the first two volumes of the comic.)
